Hawaii Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines

Raising awareness and working in solidarity from Hawaii for the human rights of Filipino people and all justice- and freedom-loving citizens of the world.

About Us

Our Mission

1) Raise Hawai’i’s awareness on Philippine human rights issues and struggles, and

2) Train advocates for human rights through linking the work between the youth, labor, church and Indigenous peoples’ organizations both in Hawaiʻi and the Philippines. Challenging the way that U.S. imperialism attempts to divide and rule Indigenous and migrant peoples and self-determination struggles is at the root of their work.

Advocacy

Over 195 Million Dollars of US Taxpayer money is spent on Military Aid to the Philippines, annually. This money directly supports human rights violations of the Philippine Military and Police. We must work to cut this aid and pressure the Philippine government to comply with International Human Rights Law.

End US Support for the Duterte Regime

Brandon Lee, a Chinese-American Environmental Defender in the Philippines was shot by the Philippine Military on August 6, 2019. We call on the International community to conduct investigations into the crimes of the Philippine state forces.
